Five Ways to "Do Something" about the Oil Spill
- "Boycott" BP while continuing to consume as much oil as before from other oil companies
- Buy an expensive, useless product that garishly proclaims your aversion to oil spills and/or love for seabirds (preferably a t-shirt or bumper sticker) and/or gives at least 1% of profits to conservation/environmental causes
- Get angry at the government for not cleaning up the spill quickly enough
- Add some "oil dripping" graphic to your twitter avatar (via green Iran activism)
- Write a blog post or two offering one-sided opinions, freshman year-level philosophy, and largely unfeasible "solutions" without considering the unique circumstances of readers
I just wanted to share that I've probably referenced or otherwise thought of this post every day since it was posted (ok it's only been like three days...).
ReplyDeleteBy the time I got to number 5 I was feeling guilty for hating on people that probably care but are just a lil' misguided (i.e. 1-4)...
ReplyDeleteAnd realized that 5 was basically all I've done :T
Hey, I am donating my used panty hose to clean it up. Isn't that enough?
ReplyDelete@Linda,
ReplyDeleteThanks for doing your part! :)
